Dean Byron - Expert Profile |
||||
When I was at secondary school I worked a few hours a week in a restaurant where my late grandmother was head chef. I was only washing up and serving tables, but it was here that I first realised the true meaning of hard work! I continued working at the restaurant and eventually trained as a chef at college. It wasn’t until I left college that I realised cooking was more of a hobby for me rather than something I wanted to pursue as a career, so I decided to follow in my brother’s footsteps instead of gran’s. I started working at one of the largest debt management companies in Manchester. It was here that I witnessed first-hand how debt management plans can truly help those that require it and this spurred me on to wanting to further my knowledge of the industry. I moved to a smaller firm in 2005 and was quickly promoted to the position of Team Leader. I was with that company for over 4 years until I joined Tenon in February 2009 to assist in setting up their Debt Management team. I now manage the debt management department and I enjoy working for a company that feels the same way as I do in relation to people in debt. There are many reasons why people may fall into financial difficulty and regardless of the reasons, I believe everyone should be treated with respect. My team and I work together with our clients to ensure the best possible outcome for their situation. Working with figures and spreadsheets most of the day does get the mind working overtime. Being a yoga enthusiast, I find it easy enough to relax but, if that doesn’t work I use my old chef skills to whip up a quick cheesecake or fruit crumble, which definitely does the trick!
